Fruity, aromatic, medium-body Red wine
Grape: Sangiovese, Canaiolo Nero, Merlot, Syrah.
Region: Italy> Tuscany> Montecarlo.
Notes: No oak. Sustainable farming.
One usually thinks of Chianti whenever Tuscany is mentioned. Though Chianti is great, we don't think this region should overshadow the smaller and lesser known ones, like Montecarlo. Fattoria del Teso's Montecarlo is a blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo Nero supplemented with Merlot and Syrah that is aged 8 months in glazed cement and stainless steel tanks, plus another 3 months in bottles. Fruity, spicy, with molasses and earhty notes. Good balance, silky medium tannins. In a region where Chianti and Brunello demand top dollar, it's worth noting that secondary areas like Montecarlo often deliver very good value for the money. A hidden gem that still tastes nice even after a few days.
Food Pairing: Very versatile. Grilled red meats to pizza, etc.
